Farewell Dark City....

OG is packing it in. The thrill is gone. The interest has waned. And the early winds of summer distract me. Perhaps some day we will see some political fervor and interest here in Dark City. Perhaps some day we will have an engaged and informed electorate. Will any of that happen in my lifetime? probably not...OG is taking a break from it all. Some of you will say 'good riddance' and some of you may be saddened just a bit by this news. I wouldn't want it any other way. Adios....and let the light shine brightly over Dark City.

    OG, Why not ask or have one of your police family take over rather than stop the site. They should well know what is going on in the city. What better place to get that kind of city information to publish on the site.

    Sorry to see it. We need someone telling us what's going on All we got these days is the Patch, which is just a lot of stuff about what's going on at the Torigian center, and the Snooze, which doesn't give a rip about Peabody. The weakly was going pretty good last year but the main guy left and they're back to copying old stuff from the Snooze and their web site has vanished so you have to wonder whether they're gonna last. Is the citizen still around?

    Hi OG.
    It is not a thankful task running a Peabody blog... that is for sure.
    It seems like the only things that generate interest were, frankly, the hate-filled blogs of a few years back.
    While I so disliked the yelling, profanity, name calling and general childishness of those blogs, at least they made for SOME sort of discourse.
    Perhaps when the times are a bit more interesting you, and maybe even I, will once again find the blog-o'sphere a worthy venue to discuss the important issues of the day.

    On a side note...

    I must say I have been very pleasantly surprised by Mayor Bettencourt's performance so far... he seems to have taken some pages from the Torigian administration and added some youthful energy... and so far I am on the whole more pleased than not.

    I hope he keeps up the good work.

    so why are you leaving,it sounds like you have an audience? why leave.. people are interested, only you don't know it yet..I am very interested,,especially about Tierney, he is targeted by the G.O.P. ,,I wonder if he will survive.. What goes on with that.

    He couldn't take the ribbing he got about his "dark City" comments and critical commentaries from a couple of readers. He should have known that it came with the job but didn't as it seems to be.

    I guess he couldn't take the sites responsibility and let the non favorable comments roll off his back. His supposed family in the police department that he bragged about should make a team effort with him to run the site and its content. That is if ,in fact, he has family in the police department and wasn't just saying that just to make it appear that he has an in for the news in the city.

    I happen to think that OG will be solely missed among the various blogger comments we see on sites like this. I hope he returns some day. He was never disrespectful or took cheap shots which is what usually happens on these blogs.

    His only problem was his attempt at trying to pass off employees in the police department as family members. It didn't say much for his honesty doing that. But then we all have our faults don't we ,some more than others.
